Exchange Database File Location:
While taking a backup of exchange server database or converting EDB files to other formats to export the database, Users often face trouble locating EDB files for data backup or conversion to various other formats,import /export database.EDB Files are the exchange database files which contain information related to mailbox contents, calendar data, notes etc. Exchange server accesses EDB files to retrieve mailbox information from the server.
- Root: \Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\ abcd.edb.
- Or root:\Mailbox\DB1\DB1.edb.
You can extract the location along with many things using
Power Shell with the following command:

Open Power Shell
·
Type in Get-MailboxDatabase –Status | select “edbfilepath”
In case you want to extract all the information about the
mailbox databases, typing Get-MailboxDatabsase alone retrieves all of the
information about the mailbox databases.
Where are Public and
Private Folder’s database located?
Default location of Public folder/Private folder database:
pub1.edb and pub1.stm is root: \Program
Files\Exchsrvr
Exceptions:
In-case the Get-Mailbox Database command executes but
displays nothing, then you need to do the following:
We need to add the Windows Power Shell snapp in into the
current session as by default they are disabled. Power Shell command to add the
snappin - Parameter Set: Default
Add-PSSnapin [-Name] <String[]> [-PassThru] [
<CommonParameters>]
