Method 1 to Fix Out Of Office Does Not Work in Exchange 2010 Error
The error can repaired using the EMS i.e., Exchange Management Shell, firstly check the URL’s assigned to web service virtual directory using the command:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectoryCommand
If you find that the internal or external URL’s are missing or they are not correct, set them right by typing the command in Exchange Console
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectoryCommand
Get-Web Services Virtual Directory
To check the Exchange Web Services URL’s type and paste the lines mentioned below in EMS.
Get-Webservicesvirtualdirectory | fl identity,internalurl,externalurl
In case the server is correctly configured, command provides results that are similar to following, URLs both in InternalUrl and ExternalUrl Fields.
Identity: Server_name\EWS(Default Web Site)
InternalUrl:
ExternalUrl:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory cmdlet
In case the external URL goes missing, set the following using Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory command:
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory –Identify “Server\EWS (Default Web Site)”- InternalURL- ExternalURL –BasicAuthentication: $true
Verify that the server name is correct by making following code run again:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | fl identity,internalurl,externalurl

Method 2 to Troubleshoot Out of Office Not Working Issue
The other method is Sending Automatic Reply.

- Sign in Outlook Web App in web browser using a URL provided by person who is responsible for mail server in your work place.
- Provide credentials like Username and Passwords, afterwards click on Sign In.
- Select Outlook or Mail on the search bar present.
- If it is not possible, select App Launcher>> and then Outlook.
- In the search bar, select settings and set Automatic Replies.
